HOW TO USE A.I. TO BRAINSTORM A NEW LOOK

Much has been said about the rise of A.I. and the danger it poses to professional actors.  I told my clients during the SAGAFTRA strike negotiations that they likely had already given to Meta/IG all the rights to the images they uploaded to Instagram.

I advised my clients to try and adopt A.I. as soon as possible rather than waiting around and hoping it doesn't destroy their career.

This is a tutorial aimed at using A.I. image generators to prototype or brainstorm a strategic branding makeover by combining the power of random photos on the internet with highly detailed character descriptions which are often found in television pilots and procedural dramas.   You likely have no idea the breadth and depth of roles that are available because your agent or manager only sends you role descriptions which are a match for your existing marketing self-concept.  Since most actors employ naive "this is who I am" branding strategies, hundreds if not thousands of roles go by unnoticed.

In this example I am going to utilize DALL-E to remix or do a strategic rebranding of a famous Hollywood girl-next-door.  If you are an unknown character actor, your chance of breaking in as "the girl next door" are subject to the same statistics as winning the lottery.  The most common outcome is spending thousands of dollars on classes, headshots, casting workshops and coaching in order to obtain three television Co-Stars.  If you think that's a career strategy, I guess I'll see you at The Waddlesworth in 10 years.

STEP 1: Choose an A-List Actress who vaguely resembles you and find the most generic images of them, at your approximate age, using Google image search.

STEP 2: Find 3-6 highly-detailed character descriptions from actual television pilots or feature films.  Ask the A.I. to perform a strategic rebranding of the generic actress photo using the specifics of the character role description.

STEP 3: Make notes on the specific wardrobe, hair, status & other visual choices that the A.I. makes and keep in mind the A.I. does not have any eyes and has never seen anything.  These are text-to-image inference engines!  Use these aesthetics to plan your strategic rebranding.
